Discretionary investment management

Capital managed with discipline, reported without ambiguity.

Milford Asset manages discretionary portfolios for private clients, families and institutions. Every mandate is implemented inside a documented investment policy, reconciled against independent custody records, and reported in full.

Our approach

Long-horizon investing, operated to institutional standards.

We believe most portfolio damage is operational rather than analytical. Strategy matters, but so does whether positions are genuinely held, whether records match the custodian, and whether a client can see exactly what happened and when.

01

Policy before position

Each portfolio begins with a written mandate defining objective, risk tolerance, liquidity requirement and permitted instruments. Allocation decisions are made inside those constraints, not around them.

02

Independent verification

Holdings are reconciled against third-party custody and provider records. Breaks are raised as exceptions, investigated, and resolved through a controlled workflow rather than silently adjusted.

03

Double-entry accounting

Client balances derive from a posted, immutable ledger. Corrections are made by reversal entries that remain visible in the record, never by editing history.

The operating model

One record, from onboarding to statement.

Identity verification, compliance review, account opening, custody linkage, instrument reference data, order handling, accounting and reporting operate on a single connected record. Nothing is re-keyed between systems, because there is only one system.

That continuity is what makes an audit trail meaningful. Every state change carries an actor, a timestamp and a reason, and the chain can be verified end to end.

Getting started

Four steps from enquiry to active portfolio.

01

Introductory discussion

We establish your objective, time horizon, liquidity needs and risk tolerance, and confirm whether our mandate is a suitable fit before any application begins.

02

Identity and compliance review

Digital onboarding collects the identity documentation required in your jurisdiction. A compliance officer reviews the file, and final approval sits with a separate senior approver.

03

Account opening and custody linkage

Your account is opened and linked to a custody relationship. Milford records public account metadata only — private keys and signing credentials are never held in our business systems.

04

Funding and activation

Once your deposit settles, you can activate a plan from the client portal. Every activation request is reviewed before it becomes effective, and the full history stays visible to you.

Private client enquiries

We will explain how the mandate works, what it does not cover, and the risks that apply — before any commitment is made.
